Cameron (Cam) Traill brings more than 35 years of practical experience in soil science and environmental consulting, with a career spanning government, industrial and community projects across Queensland and New South Wales.
A highly experienced soil scientist, Cam has worked across contaminated land, acid sulfate soils, erosion and sediment control, land rehabilitation, hydrology, water quality and ecology. His strength lies in being able to bring these disciplines together on complex projects, helping clients understand the risks, work through the technical detail, and find solutions that are practical, defensible and fit for purpose.
Cam holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Soil and Water Management from the University of Queensland. Over his career, he has led major projects across infrastructure, defence, renewable energy, mining, agriculture and urban redevelopment. He is known for his strong field-based knowledge, clear communication and calm, practical approach to solving environmental challenges.
Most recently, Cam worked at a national level as a Soil Science Technical Lead and led a national Community of Practice in Erosion and Sedimentation Management. He has played an important role in building technical capability, supporting multi-disciplinary teams, and mentoring the next generation of environmental scientists.
Cam is also a strong relationship builder. He understands what clients need, communicates clearly, and keeps projects moving without losing sight of quality, risk or the bigger picture.
He is an active member of the Australian Contaminated Land Consultants Association, the Australian Land and Groundwater Association, the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand, the International Erosion Control Association Australasia, and the Agricultural Institute of Australia, where he holds the designation of Certified Practicing Agriculturalist. He is also an approved advisor on the Queensland Government Land Restoration Fund.
Outside work, Cam is passionate about the natural environment and brings that same curiosity, energy and grounded perspective to the way he works with clients and teams.
